Campus Y is a medium for service, activism, and social justice work where UNC students can engage their community internationally, locally, and right on campus. The organization houses several youth-serving committees, including Big Buddy, Carolina Kickoff, Catalyst Conference, Helping Youth by Providing Enrichment (HYPE), and Linking Immigrants to New Communities (LINC).The Campus Y serves as an organizational hub for various student committees dedicated to activism, service, and social justice work in issues ranging from mentoring to international microfinance. The Y has five committees that focus exclusively on youth. These programs include mentoring programs for at-risk youth, English language tutoring for new immigrants in the community, social justice, inequality, and diversity training for high school students across the state, and college preparation activities for incoming UNC students. The Campus Y’s volunteer and leadership base is made up entirely of UNC students largely drawing from the 18-22 year old demographic.
