A spectrum of inclusion support for children/youth with disabilities, in most Parks & Recreation activities depending on participant’s needs (must request at least 2 weeks in advance). Specialized recreation programs, adapted to suit the needs of children and youth with disabilities, includes emphasis on social skills, sensory needs and fun!
DSI Comedy Theater boasts a local company of 100 active performers in Chapel Hill, NC and a national network of comedians. A dedicated member of its community, DSI supports the greater Triangle region with fundraisers, outreach, and educational opportunities for all ages and abilities.
Fusion Youth Radio (at the Marian Cheek Jackson Center for Saving and Making History) is dedicated to furthering equity, inspiring creativity, and promoting dialogue among youth from many different backgrounds by providing them opportunities to tell their stories in their own words.
The Happy Messenger Art Bus will bring a wide variety of mobile art experiences to the community. These experiences will be mostly offered in partnership with local art groups, councils, school districts, afterschool programs, health organizations, corporations and more. Artistic expression programs such as this have been found to foster as sense of empowerment, belonging and achievement.
The Jackson Center is a public history and community development located at the gateway of the historic Northside of Chapel Hill, NC. The Northside and Pine Knolls neighborhoods are home to an abundant history of life after Reconstruction, under Jim Crow, during Civil Rights Action, and in wake of desegregation. Today, they are one of the most racially, ethnically, and economically diverse neighborhoods in the region.
NC Arts in Action inspires our children. Founded in 2005, NC AIA is dedicated to transforming the lives of children through participation in the arts. Programs are held at Frank Porter Graham, Triangle Youth Ballet, and Ballet School of Chapel Hill. Scope Over 500 kids a year
The North Carolina Youth Tap Ensemble (NCYTE) presents performances featuring cutting edge contemporary choreography and traditional rhythm tap as it was danced in its prime. Imagine Stomp, Riverdance, vaudeville, Fred Astaire and Bring In Da Noise all on the same bill — that’s NCYTE! The company has performed or collaborated with the Greensboro Symphony, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Mallarme Chamber Players, the North Carolina Jazz Repertory Orchestra and many jazz musicians around the nation and world.
