Apples
APPLES is a student-led, staff-supported program that builds sustainable, service-learning partnerships among UNC students, faculty and communities in North Carolina and beyond. By engaging all partners in an enriched, community-based curriculum, APPLES experiential programs foster socially aware and civically involved students.

Art Therapy Institute
Art Therapy Institute (ATI) provides direct therapy services using art. ATI’s Burma Art Therapy Project and iPad Project serve Chapel Hill and Carrboro youth. Program recipients are recent immigrants attending Chapel Hill-Carrboro Schools, and patients in the pediatric department of hematology/oncology at UNC HospitalsATI’s iPad project serves pediatric patients in the hematology/oncology wards at UNC Hospitals

Augustine Literacy Project
Augustine Literacy Project trains and supports more than 700 trained tutors who help in our mission to improve the reading, writing and spelling abilities of low-income children and teens (grades K-12) who struggle with literacy skills in the Triangle. Volunteer tutors provide free, long term, one-on-one instruction using the Orton-Gillingham approach and Wilson Reading System® materials.

Augustine Literacy Project
The mission of the Augustine Literacy Project is to improve the reading, writing and spelling abilities of low-income children and teens who struggle with literacy skills. Autism Society of Orange and Chatham Counties
ASNCOC, the Autism Society of North Carolina, Orange-Chatham chapter, is a volunteer organization of parents and supporters that provides a forum to strengthen the local community for those with autism and related disorders. As parents, we support one another with information and encouragement. Through the grapevine, members keep each other aware of current happenings.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Triangle
Big Brothers and Big Sisters (BBBS) of the Triangle matches low-income children, usually of single parent households, with a mentor who is over 18 years old in order to provide the children with a positive adult role model. Approximately 70 percent of mentors come from the UNC system.The Chapel Hill/Carrboro match coordinator is housed in the Campus Y at UNC-CH where the program is called “Big Buddies.”

Blue Ribbon Mentor-Advocate
Blue Ribbon Mentor-Advocate (BRMA) is a comprehensive support program for middle and high school students of color (African American, Latino, Burmese, Karen) in the Chapel Hill – Carrboro City Schools. BRMA provides students with mentoring, tutoring, advocacy, enrichment, leadership training, and scholarship support services.
